Water Reuse Begins with a Defined End Use

Establish the intended use before comparing treatment stages and water quality targets.

The incoming wastewater profile is equally important. Flow variation, dissolved material, suspended solids and potential contaminants help determine which treatment barriers may be needed and where sampling should take place.

A concept review then connects the treatment stages to storage, distribution and operating checks. Separate handling arrangements may be needed to prevent unintended cross connections or use outside the reviewed application.

Monitoring and maintenance remain part of the reuse plan after installation. Any claim that a stream is suitable for a particular use should be based on verified water quality and the applicable local requirements.
